How to be more authentic on video as a coach or therapist

Coaches and therapists excel at being present with their clients. Our training and experience enables us to not only build rapport, but a therapeutic relationship where people feel comfortable enough to explore what it’s like to be human.

Holding a helping interaction takes self-awareness, deep listening, emotional intelligence and skills honed over years of practice. We are used to our clients having the spotlight, or at most, lightly sharing it with them. When we're so attuned to working with people in this way, is it any wonder that talking to a camera can make us feel awkward and unnatural?

In this video, I share 5 practical tips that I hope will help you begin to communicate that same natural presence, warmth, and humanity that you bring to your clinical work. As a result, existing clients will recognise the 'you' they see every week in their sessions, and prospective clients will get a truer insight into what working with you might be like. If you'd like to feel more confident, help more clients and be more 'you' on camera, give this a watch!
